PVT. HEATH WARNER MEMORIAL 5K & BOOTS ON THE GROUND 5 MILE
May 26 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
New for 2018, a Memorial Day weekend event that truly celebrates our nation’s heroes.
The Pvt. Heath Warner Memorial 5K and Boots on the Ground 5 Mile are a combined event that welcomes all ages and abilities.
The Pvt. Heath Warner race is dedicated to extending the legacy USMC Pvt. Heath Warner who died defending freedom on 11/22/06 in the Al Anbar Province in Iraq. The race honors all who have paid the ultimate price for freedom. Proceeds from the race are used to help surviving military families, returning veterans and other community projects through the Pvt. Heath Warner Memorial Fund and the S. N. Warner Family Association.
Boots on the Ground is about raising funds for the organizations that help our veterans re-integrate into civilian society, fight adicition, treat PTSD and aid the homeless among them.
Proceeds from registration and your contributions will benefit The Pvt. Heath Warner Foundation and Team RWB. Boots on the Ground offers an opportunity to experience the best of Historic Downtown Canal Fulton, as well as the Olde Muskingum and Towpath Trails.
Register for either the 5K or the 5 Mile race. Each is walker and family-friendly.
The 5K starts in Historic Downtown Canal Fulton and winds through some of the quaint neighborhoods before heading South on Erie Ave to Lock 4, where you’ll cross the Ohio and Erie Canal and run the Towpath Trail back to St. Helena Park.
The 5 Mile race starts at the same point, crosses the Tuscarawas River and heads South on the Olde Muskingum Trail. You’ll cross the river again at Butterbridge, and head back to St. Helena Park on the Towpath Trail.
This will be a split start race, with the 5 mile going first, followed by the 5K. There is a timing strip at the start as well as the finish, so your time will be true net.

What You Get

Our veterans deserve nothing but the best. Unfortunately, the stress of battle can lead to PTSD, substance abuse and homelessness. Boots on the Ground proceeds will directly benefit our veterans, by funding the agencies that help them, provide counseling, shelter and job training. When you register for Boots on the Ground, you’re not just signing up for a trail run, you’re helping the people who keep us safe so we can have trails and running.
